Digital Dj Tips – E-mail Campaign Formatting

On July 14th, 2016 a regular e-mail subscription (Digital DJ Tips) that I follow, sent a massive e-mail regarding Sale & Marketing Manager Position becoming available at their business.

Being a follower of Digital DJ Tips for some time, I wanted to apply my skills to their company. My experience as a DJ for 10 years combine with my marketing skills has lead me to start this project to take initiative of one aspect of their current marketing platforms.

As part as my goals, I have taken a high interest into this position, as this is something that aligns both my interest in DJing and marketing.

In this project I will be taking their current format for e-mail campaigns and applying a redesign in order to increase open rates, and user actions to their e-mail.

The core of Digital DJ Tips is to provide DJ’s, producers, and other artist a reliable source of information regarding news, product releases, culture, education, and providing a community for others to interact with. The profit of Digital DJ Tips are mainly sourced from educational courses, and advertising.

Aligning their goals to their profit is crucial for this company. Digital companies depend on variables such as interaction, and impressions. These variables are highly valuable as this company is mainly web-based. The e-mail marketing campaign is one of the most effective tools in order to achieve these variables.

After evaluating their current e-mail format, I found two major gaps in their formatting:

-The format is visually lacking.

-Although it seams as if the e-mail was geared toward a more personal message to the client, the format “blends” the different articles together, making one loose interest after the first or second article.


Current Email Format


The lack of visual aid greatly reduced the interest of readers and may cause the reader to skip the e-mail. Creating visual aids can help get the attention of readers to engage into a action.

In order to address this issue, I evaluated one challenge that Digital DJ Tips may encounter on the companies end and created a solution. By addressing this challenge Digital DJ Tips will be able to create eye catching promotional campaigns consistently and boost user interaction rate:

Challenge

Because of the nature of the business structure of Digital DJ Tips, the company is using multiple personal (authors) to create e-mail campaigns in order to keep their followers engaged in their content. Personals may not have experience in coding. This challenge will limit the ability of Digital DJ Tips marketing solutions.

Solution

In order to address this issue, the need to use a 3rd party e-mailing program will be necessary. In this case, I have chosen Constant Contact. This e-mail service is user friendly, and has a very quick customer support rate. Templates can be created and very little coding will be required to create e-mail eye catching e-mail campaigns.

In this example mock up, I have taken the core content and produced visually striking content that gives the visual aid that Digital DJ Tips is lacking in their e-mail campaign. More items and articles can be added using this format, while maintaining professionalism, and delivering it’s featured articles to their readers. Furthermore custom banners can be created, and the possibility of adding advertisers to the e-mail can help boost profits for Digital DJ Tips.
